The American Health PALS program provides a structured approach to the assessment and treatment of the critically ill pediatric patient. The guidelines are based upon the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) consensus on science, which has transitioned to a continuous evidence evaluation process. As a result, periodic focused updates to the AH PALS guidelines are anticipated as new science is published and reviewed.
