After successfully completing the ESL/NCLEX Review, and obtaining state RN licensure, nurses with a BSN are eligible to earn an MSN degree.
A Masters of Science in Nursing is a prestigious degree that is held by experts in the nursing field, including industry leaders, administrators, and Chief Nursing Officers. Critical thinking skills, optimal managerial abilities, and continuity of care are valued assets developed through a Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) program. Nurses who are eligible for the MSN program must already have a Bachelor Degree in Nursing from an accredited university.
Nurses enrolled in an MSN program are typically eligible for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) during their studies. Under CPT, students may work in a New York healthcare setting up to twenty hours per week, allowing the ability to earn a salary while learning practical, on-the-job skills that will enhance their capabilities as nurse leaders.
Nurses will also be eligible to participate in an Occupational Placement Training (OPT) program that will allow them to work as a registered nurse in a US hospital full time for up to one year after graduation. Among other things, this program focuses on the leadership role of each student, and promotes a deeper understanding of clinical specialties as well as the development of the healthcare field. Degree holders are considered to be experts in their field and maintain the highest reputation for comprehensive industry standards, innovative healthcare policies, and patient care advocacy.
Candidates for these programs must be part of a cohort of 30 nurses for whom classes will be designed to meet the interests and needs of those students, e.g., in a particular specialty area of nursing such as leadership, critical care, etc. American Health will aid students with immigration matters, accommodations and cultural acclimation.
Successful completion of the US licensing exam (NCLEX) and licensure in the United States is necessary for entry into most Masters programs. However, there are non-clinical MSN degree programs available to nurses who hold a BSN degree and have excellent English skills.
