Stewardship is a concept that includes the philosophy of practical analysis and practice of serving others in such a way as to provide leadership while observing the shared values of the staff for which they are in charge. Stewardship could be a form of leadership by which nurse lead- ers may establish health care environments that promote values-based practices that embody values, including respect for persons’ dignity and self-determination, as well as equity and fairness.
