About Course

The initial management of patients following cardiac surgery focuses on ensuring adequate analgesia and ventilation and managing bleeding.

The following aspects of postoperative care apply to all patients who’ve had CABG surgery.
  1. Maintain airway patency.
  2. Monitor vital signs and record intake and output hourly.
  3. Assess the patient’s hemodynamic and cardiac status.
  4. Perform peripheral and neurovascular assessments hourly for the first 8 hours.

 

A coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) is a surgical procedure used to treat coronary heart disease. It diverts blood around narrowed or clogged parts of the major arteries to improve blood flow and oxygen supply to the heart.
