National Registry Exam (NREMT) Preparation Program
American Health offers comprehensive preparation programs designed to help EMTs and Paramedics successfully prepare for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Examination, one of the most widely recognized certifications in emergency medical services.
Whether participants are seeking a complete competency refresher or a focused examination review, American Health provides flexible educational pathways that strengthen clinical knowledge, reinforce practical skills, and improve readiness for national certification testing.
Program Options
American Health offers two preparation pathways for NREMT candidates:
Option 1: 12-Month Comprehensive EMT/Paramedics Refresher Program
This intensive program is designed for practicing EMTs and Paramedics who wish to refresh and strengthen their clinical competencies while preparing for the National Registry Examination.
Delivered onsite by faculty from American Health’s educational partners, the program combines classroom instruction, simulation-based training, laboratory practice, and clinical skill development. Upon successful completion, participants receive a diploma or certificate from one of American Health’s affiliated educational institutions.
Option 2: One-Month National Registry Review Program
For graduates who have already completed their EMT or Paramedic training, American Health offers an accelerated one-month review course designed specifically to prepare candidates for the NREMT examination within the required certification timeframe.
The review program focuses on key cognitive and practical competencies, examination strategies, and intensive skills reinforcement to maximize candidate success.
Understanding the NREMT Certification Process
The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization that establishes national standards for EMS certification in the United States. Its certification process is recognized across many states and is frequently accepted in lieu of local certification examinations as a prerequisite for state licensure.
National Registry certification promotes professional mobility, reciprocity, and consistent competency standards among emergency medical professionals throughout the United States.
Candidates are generally required to complete certification testing within 24 months of completing their educational program, and both examination components must be successfully completed within the required certification period.
Certification Levels
The National Registry offers certification examinations at multiple levels of emergency medical practice, including:
- Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
- EMT-Basic
- Advanced EMT (AEMT)
- EMT-Intermediate
- Paramedic
Examination Components
The NREMT certification process evaluates both cognitive knowledge and practical competency through two primary assessment components:
Cognitive Examination
A computer-adaptive examination designed to evaluate clinical knowledge, critical thinking, decision-making, and patient care competencies across a broad range of emergency medical scenarios.
Psychomotor and Practical Skills Assessment
A structured, multi-station practical examination that evaluates hands-on clinical skills, patient assessment, emergency interventions, communication, and professional performance in simulated emergency situations.
Program Benefits
Participants in American Health’s National Registry preparation programs benefit from:
- Comprehensive review of core EMS knowledge and competencies
